Journey of Freedom
Devotionals
I was first inspired to write devotionals when I witnessed first-hand how encouraging words and stories can lift a person's heart. I am passionate about inspiring and encouraging people in their struggles in daily life and pointing them to God - who has the power to lift them out of the pain and hardship and strengthen, heal and fill them with His love.
Journey of Freedom is a book of 90 devotionals filled with my own observations, funny stories and experience of God at work in my own life, to drop encouragement and inspiration into your day. It's designed to encourage you through daily struggles in life; give a focus of thanks and a thought for the day and most importantly (something I'm very passionate about) inspire intimate daily worship in your life, drawing you closer to the Father...One day at a time!"

Here's are a couple of examples of what you can expect to read in the book....
My Personal Bravery
“The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.” Habakkuk 3:19
I would never have looked at a deer and seen it as a surefooted animal. Their hooves are small and their legs are very fragile and spindly…they don’t look steady at all! However, they are very speedy and though they are not really climbers, they have an incredible ability to run at high-speeds over broken and uneven ground. They fix their eyes on the destination and race towards it, unafraid of the ground that lay underneath them.
The Amplified Bible version of the above verse is this “The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!” Wow! What an incredible verse! If you’re lacking courage today in whatever you’re facing, be encouraged – you don’t have to find the strength to navigate through it. God is your strength and He is your personal bravery. You just need to trust in Him; fix your eyes on Him…He’s the strong one and is brave on your behalf AND he is your INVINCIBLE army. Invincible means that which cannot be conquered in war or combat, or overcome or subdued in any way. That sounds like a sure victory to me!
It may take time to come to victory but you can be absolutely sure that you WILL overcome. He will overcome for you. He will cause you to move forwards on the heights; over the broken and uneven ground of your life; over uncertainty and fear; through trouble, suffering or responsibility. Not only that (as if that wasn’t enough!) but through it all, you will make spiritual progress. The more you trust God, the more likely you are to trust Him again. The more you stand and panic and push Him away, the less likely you are to trust Him in the future. Trust grows in us. As we trust and He brings us through, over all that broken ground, we grow in confidence in Him and wisdom. It’s often the only way to reach the heights and when we stand on the top of that mountain shouting our victory….Wow does it feel good! The Freedom of Treading on the Heights.
Lord God I fix my eyes on You today. No matter what is happening in my life I put my trust in You; in Your strength. Be my personal bravery today; my invincible army. Thank You that NOTHING can stand in Your way. You are God and no-one can overwhelm you. Make my feet like the feet of a deer as I put my faith in You, so I can run over the broken and uneven ground in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Excuse me, you’re in the wrong car?
“Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongue with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” Psalm 126:2
A couple of years ago my husband and children were sitting outside the supermarket in the car whilst I’d called in for a few things. All of a sudden, a lady opened the passenger door, climbed into the car and sat down with her bag on her knee waiting to set off. My husband and kids didn’t know what to say or do, until they noticed a man in the car opposite, waving madly to try and get his wife’s attention! Eventually, as she seemed not to have noticed anything of what was going on, my husband broke the silence and exclaimed “Are you ok?” At this point she yelped, realising she had got into the wrong car and flew over to where her husband was sitting impatiently in his car. I came out of the supermarket completely oblivious to all that had happened and they told me all about it. We laughed until our sides hurt and still do every time we remember it.
Laughter is a wonderful gift God has created us with. Did you know that a good hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after? Laughter boosts the immune system. It decreases stress hormones, increasing immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies. It triggers the release of endorphins, which promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain. When you laugh it protects your heart because it increases the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect against a heart attack. Laughter dissolves distressing emotions. You cannot feel anxious, angry or sad when you’re laughing and it shifts your perspective (1). What a fantastic creation! Such a brilliant thing God has provided us with to lift us up. It’s amazing how a good laugh breaks through the stress and worry we’re feeling and frees us up inside.
Oddly, the majority of times we laugh are not at jokes, but mainly random things that were never intended to be funny in the first place. I think God points out funny things to us to do us good. Ask Him today to lift your heart by making you laugh and watch what He does. The Freedom of Laughter.
Father God, thank You for the amazing gift of laughter. Thank You that the Bible says that You laugh too! I’m sure I often do funny things that make You chuckle. I ask today that You will show me things to make me laugh and as I do so that You will lift the stress and worry from my heart, as well as infectiously encouraging others through it too. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
